Sunday June 1st 8:30am at Perks Coffee House in Elmira (http://goo.gl/maps/cc3IR) It's time. Time to go and check how our legs feel when we head over to Hawkesville and ride up everyone's favourite hill. If you have never ridden this hill you are in for a real treat. This is a great place in the area to train for bigger climbs by using it for hill repeats. See you Sunday! Sunday May 25th 8:30am at Perks Coffee House in Elmira (http://goo.gl/maps/cc3IR) The turnout for last week's ride was once again fantastic with 13 riders out on a long weekend. This week's route we are going to start out by heading to Sandy Hill once again but extend the trip by heading down one of my favourite and fastest roads in the area for cycling - Middlebrook!
Well that was spectacular! I think we had 13 riders out yesterday for our second group ride of the season and again many new faces eager to ride. With the group getting larger it was a little more difficult to keep everyone together but, overall, I think the ride went very well and our average pace was just what we expected.
Sunday May 4th 8:30am at Perks Coffee House in Elmira (http://goo.gl/maps/cc3IR) Mother's Day is this Sunday so this is a perfect reason to get up nice and early and come out for a ride. This week the route will be the same length as last week but I have decided that we should throw a little hill into the ride. Sandy Hills is a perfect start to figure how to climb hills as it is not overly steep nor overly long but you will notice it. Here is the route: See you Sunday!
The past couple of years our team of dedicated and hard-working riders have managed to raise roughly $13,000 plus an additional $3,000 in corporate sponsorships for jerseys, swag, prizes etc. Now that spring has finally arrived it is time to put together our 2014 team roster. Like past years we are seeking riders of any ability (beginner to elite) ready to ride/race together at Centurion Blue Mountain with a promise of fund-raising a minimum of $150 for Kate's Kause. In return for your hard-work and dedication to our team you will get a free jersey, swag bag, pre- and post race support at Centurion, training rides all season long and a great sense of accomplishment. If you want more reason to join our team I highly suggest you read Ken's 2013 Centurion Race Report for inspiration. The 2014 swag bags should be similar to last year's bags but with this new incredible custom jersey design by Primal Custom: If you are interested in joining our team for 2014 all you need to do is contact us before May 31st!
If, on the other hand, Centurion is just not your thing but still want to support our cause feel free to support the team by purchasing a jersey ($75 and ordered before May 30th), pledging someone on our team or simply join us for our weekly training rides. Thanks again for all your support! What a great way to start our cycling season! With the sun shining, 7 riders (many of them new faces) were at Perks right on time and ready to head out for our first group ride of the season - too bad I made them wait nearly 10 more minutes until I showed up. The first rule of group rides is that the ride starts on time but thank you for breaking that rule so early in the season and waiting for me! Once I finally got there we decided to attack our planned route in reverse to help with the 30km/h (and very cold) wind. Other than that little bit of wind the ride itself was great! The group managed to stay together for most of the ride and everyone made it back to Perks in good spirits. I hope to see everyone back next Sunday! Sunday May 4th 8:30am at Perks Coffee House in Elmira (http://goo.gl/maps/cc3IR) I don't know about others but after a long, wet and cold early cycling season I am excited to get our Sunday morning group rides started! Our first group ride of 2014 is ready to go for this Sunday. As always, we will meet at Perks Coffee House in Elmira at 8:30am.
Now with cycling season here I think it is a good time to invite everyone to come have a drink with us at our 2014 Spring Social. This year's social will be at Perks Coffee House in Elmira (now licensed ;) on Friday May 2nd at 7pm. This will give you an opportunity to learn what The Kate's Kause Cycling Team is all about, talk to our current riders and generally get excited about cycling in 2014! If you (and a friend, or two) are interested in learning about this team, joining us for our Sunday group rides or just like drinking and talking about bikes then this night will be perfect for you. Hope to see some of you out! |
