This week's ride is a little short in terms of distance but next weekend is the Ontario Cup KW Classic Road Race in Hawkesville so we are going to head over and check out the course. If everyone feels good after one lap of the course we could always do another; keep in mind that the Elite racers will be doing 12 laps next weekend so two laps is still taking it easy. here is the route:
I hope many if not everyone will be able to attend!
Here are all the details:
Once again we are seeing a great turnout for our Sunday rides with 20 riders coming out on the long weekend! At the end of the ride we talked about heading up the Hawkesville hill but I thought I would save it for one more week. This weekend I thought we could take a more scenic route down Middlebrook Road. Here is the route:
As usual, the ride leaves from the Elmira McDonald's at 8:30am. Everyone is welcome and the pace will be around 25km/h. On note, these are no drop rides but with the groups are as large as they have been we may end up splitting into two groups and continue on our way.
See you Sunday!
Last week we had a great turnout with 18 people out to ride and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves! Our new meeting spot at McDonald's also seemed to work out well and the owner was happy he could offer a place for us to meet. He also mentioned that we could feel free to get water for our bottles if ever necessary.
I hope everyone is ready because we are starting our Sunday rides this weekend! There will be a slight change in our meeting place this year as we will be gathering at the Elmira McDonald's (https://goo.gl/maps/erPvw) this year. If you are driving to this spot the parking lot is not overly large and if it is really busy you may want to park in the Foodland parking lot (https://goo.gl/maps/0THor) and ride over. As always the rides leave at 8:30am!
This first route is just 25km and as flat as I think I can make it to get the legs back into the swing of things. This route is nice because there are plenty of shortcuts back to Elmira if they are needed (to make a 13km or 20km route instead). Throughout the season we will continue to have longer rides as the season progresses. Check out the route below.
Everyone is welcome to join our ride but make sure you have the tools to repair a flat, water and of course a helmet. The pace of our rides are usually around 25km/h but as this is the first ride it will likely be a little slower. All of our rides we have a no drop policy so everyone should be able to ride with us.
See you Sunday! |
