Decisions decisions ... something I am terrible at making. We have been slowly building up our distance for our Sunday training rides and for this weekend I would like to increase our climbing. So I have come up with two options: Option 1 we will ride out to the the largest climb that is in the area in Hawkesville. Hawkesville is a great place to ride and really test your legs. Other than Hawksville hill there isn't really any other climbing on this route. Option 2 is one of my favorite loops in the area when pressed for time. Last year the team did this loop more than any others. It has some challenging rollers (and one larger hill) for the first half of the route. This is followed by a blazing fast second half as a reward. Both rides will start, as usual, at Perks Coffee House in Elmira at 8:30am. As always, everyone is welcome to join us as it is great to have new faces. These routes are similar distances and similar difficulties so I will leave it for someone else to decide or, I guess, we could do both? | OR |

Our fantastic sponsor Pinacle Health and Fitness have went above and beyond the role of sponsor and have decided to host an event to help our cycling raise more funds! Every Monday evening in the month of June Pinacle will be hosting a Boot Camp at Kate's Place (Gibson Park in Elmira). Classes will be 45 minutes starting at 7:30pm and everyone is welcome to join. The registration fee for this great class will be a donation that goes directly to Kate's Kause. To register for this class visit Pinacle Health and Fitness and for more information click here. This Sunday, May 26th, will be the 2013 edition of the Food Cycle Ride in Elora to support the Centre Wellington Food Bank and a number of riders from our team will be participating. This, unfortunately, means that there will be no ride leader for this Sunday's group ride; unless someone is willing to take over the reigns if so just comment below. This event has managed to raise well over $15,000 for the food bank over the past couple of years it has been running. The event itself looks promising and has many route options (20-100km). Our team will be riding the 70km route: If you are interested in cycling for a great cause then registration is still open! Registration is only $55 towards a good cause and includes a mass start, fully stocked rest stops and a catered lunch after the ride.
For more details click here: 2013 Food Cycle Ride It is amazing how in one week we can go from hail to the amazing weather we had today! Because of the weather this week was great turn out with 9 cyclists meeting at Perks in Elmira. The route (30km around Elmira), the weather and the group were all great and our ride went off with out any incidents - minus that crazy dog that nearly took a couple of us out. Also, to add to our entertainment, we had not one but two crashes in the parking lot (horizontal trackstands are a favourite for those new to clipless pedals) after the ride; fortunately both of these crashes only involved only one cyclist!
Our 2013 season is all coming together with a great team of incredibly generous jersey sponsors. This year's jersey design by Primal Custom is just amazing and I know members of our team agree. Primal has been a real pleasure to work with this year (and last) and are extremely helpful and generous for charitable teams. I would like to thank to our title sponsor McDonald's Restaurants of Canada for their continued support this year. In addition, we have two major sponsors this year: Perks Coffee House Ltd. (where we meet every week for our Sunday morning training rides) and new this year we are happy to welcome Pinacle Health and Fitness to the team. Also new this year Josslin Insurance and Wellington Motors have joined the team along with the return of Green Apple Photography, Rhythm Dance and Emerald Homes. Without the support of these fine businesses our team would be the same! To show your support please click on a link and learn more about some of these great sponsors!
Thanks to all those that were brave enough to join us for our Sunday morning ride today. We definitely obeyed Rule #9. When we left it was a miserable 3oC with 35km/h winds (making it feel more like -3oC). To top it all off, near the end of the ride and after a quick flat repair, we got to battle an incredible head wind mixed with a wild amount of hail! Fun ... Enjoy the rest of you Mother's Day.
