Last year over 500 cyclists dressed in white shirts and gathered near Hawkesville, Ontario for a memorial ride to remember cyclist Barrie Conrod (http://www.flickr.com/photos/waterloocyclingclub/sets/72157629727926732/). Barrie`s life ended tragically when he was struck from behind by a car while out for a bike ride with his wife. This ride was a very powerful event to not only remember Barrie`s life, but also also showed the strength in the cycling community and the importance to remember all those individuals that have been hurt or killed while riding their bikes.
This year the ride will not only remember those that have been hurt or killed while cycling but also demonstrate the need for cyclists and drivers to Share the Road! I hope that all cyclists will be eager to show their support and join me and my family for this 3km, police escorted ride in Uptown Waterloo.
